Discovered this little gem. An old coaching house next to Holmes Chapel train station. Each room traditionally decorated with some fabulous old photographs. The main bar room was full with people chatting across the room, great atmosphere. Organic lager and beer as well as all usual drinks. They serve food, didn't eat this time, but will definitely be back to try the traditional pub food at amazingly reasonable prices. Most definitely worth a visit.
Always popped in to this cosy pub after a good days Fishing on the very notable River Dane, This pub is typical of a pub that has all the homely atmosphere that you might expect. And especially inviting on cold winters days and nights,were the local scenery is picture postcard, Especially recommended
I don't live near the pub, but I love its rules. I enjoy a few pints and read my book, I do not need kids misbaving, when the parents should be In control, if children need to let of steam take them to a playground. Where I'm sure I would not be welcome sitting on a swing ,drinking beer ,and singing stones songs. So we have our areas, Go to a pub that accommodates you.
Needed an overnight stop and this fitted the bill perfectly. Simple, friendly, welcoming. Room was big and clean, with a comfy bed and good shower. Pub grub basic and hearty. Good wine by the glass. Only minor issue was my bedroom window didn’t completely close so noise from railway line was louder than it could have been, but this wasn’t really a problem. Top place for an inexpensive overnight stop.
Great place. Sam Smith's chain pub so cheap but top quality beer. Completely redecorated in early 2016 and is now very cosy with nice furnishings. Very friendly staff with a homley feel. Exactly what a british pub should be like. Had the food there a few times and it's always been very tasty. Most of their beers on tap sit at around £2.20 a pint so can't beat it.
You can buy ten pints in here for less than £20. What more do you need to say? Yes it is their own chain's brew but who cares. It tastes nice and the service is really good. Nice management and always friendly staff. Not really the sort of place you would go for a romantic date but definitely somewhere you would meet your mates for a drink on the way to manchester on a night out as it sits alongside the trainline. Def needs redecorated...
Prices are reasonable, food is good for what it is, beer is great, staff are friendly and accomodating and the rooms are generally comfortable. Front bedrooms can be subject to a little road noise. Lovely big beer garden out back. Conveniently close to the station and near enough to centre of Holmes Chapel.
